Aesthetic ClinicWhat areas of the face can be treated?
How is the procedure done?
The Procedure
- Botox, diluted into a small syringe, is injected using a very fine needle into the belly of the muscle.
- You are asked to bring out your frown, raise your eyebrows or screw up your face, and then the lines may be marked on your skin.
- The skin may be numbed with or icepacks. However the pain of the fine injection is very mild and most patients find it very tolerable.
- Usually the effect of the injection takes about 4-5 days to become noticeable but can take up to two weeks for the full effect to be apparent.
What do I do after the treatment?
You can carry on your normal activities after botox, but in order to prevent migration of the chemical which could cause an eyedroop, you will be given specific instructions about activities.
Are there any side effects?
- The toxin works only locally and does not spread to any other part of the body
- Is it possible that no beneficial effects occurr? : rarely, caused by patients having antibodies to the toxin
- A “Heaviness” in the forehead: may be noticed because suddenly the muscle has no tone. This may last hours or even for a few weeks
- Eyebrow drooping: occasionally, if the toxin is spread locally. This may take 2 to 3 weeks to recover. Eyedrops may be prescribed to correct ptosis (drooping eyelid)
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend upon your age, and the depth of your lines.
Injections are usually performed initially with a gap of about three months inbetween. However with subsequent injections, this gap may be lengthened.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are used in cosmetic surgery to improve the skin’s appearance and to fill defects in the skin from superficial wrinkles to deeper lines.
There are many different types of dermal fillers on the market.
The fillers we use at this centre are made from a natural substance found throughout the human body. One of its functions is to keep the skin moist and elastic. The gel is made from a naturally occurring material, providing cushioning and support within the skin.
It is a important not to take any anti-inflammatories, fish oil, or tablets containing aspirin for a week before treatment, to reduce the chances of bruising.
Dermal filler procedure
After your dermal filler treatment
Do not use oil based make up or moisturisers for the first 48 hours. Do not touch the area with unwashed hands.
Any redness or crusts should settle in 24 to 48 hours.
Please notify us of any persisting lumpiness, redness or itching to the treated area. Bruising can occur, but will resolve in a few days.
What results to expect from temporary dermal fillers
Improvement is immediate although a second top up treatment may be necessary. The effects last around six months, although can last longer depending on area injected and skin type.
A booster or top up treatment is advisable every 6 to 12 months with a dermal filler or anti-wrinkle treatment.
